How to maintain your enclosure all year round?

Blog categories

Regular maintenance of the enclosure is essential for its long service life and reliable functionality. In this article, Alukov experts will advise you on how to take care of your enclosure throughout the year.

Have you purchased a high-quality pool or terrace enclosure and integrated it into your daily household routine? Then the information in this article is just for you. Although our enclosures require minimal maintenance, a bit of care, cleaning, and occasional upkeep are essential to keep them in good condition. This will prolong the life of your enclosure and ensure smooth functioning of all its mechanical components.
Here are some recommendations and tips to help you maintain your enclosure.

Regular cleaning

Regular cleaning keeps your enclosure not only visually appealing but also significantly reduces the occurrence and spread of algae and other airborne plants. Therefore, regularly clean both the polycarbonate panels and the mechanical parts of your enclosure – primarily the sliding system, and also the locks or handles on entry doors.
What should you specifically keep in mind when cleaning pool and patio enclosures?

  • Panels, whether made of clear solid polycarbonate, multiwall polycarbonate, or glass, should be washed preferably with a stream of lukewarm water. This should remove all mechanical dirt, stains, dust, mold, and greasy substances.
  • In case of heavy soiling, gently wipe the surface of the aluminum profiles and polycarbonate panels with a soft sponge or cloth. Don’t forget to pre-soak the panels and profiles thoroughly.
  • For stubborn dirt, use environmentally friendly liquid detergents that are safe for nature. Never use scouring agents or cleaning products with micro-particles. Be cautious and consult with our company in advance before using any specific detergent. Always use the correct ratio of detergent. Do not use any chemicals that react with aluminum or polycarbonate. Also, protect your hands with gloves and your eyes with safety goggles.
  • Seals around the polycarbonate panels can be treated with a light layer of linseed or silicone oil during maintenance.
  • Locks and handles can be lubricated with a drop of silicone oil.
  • Clean the tracks and sliding mechanism with a strong stream of lukewarm water.
  • Use the information in the maintenance manual, which is always included with the enclosure delivery.

Visual inspection (sight inspection)

By regularly inspecting your enclosure, you’ll monitor its condition and ensure proper functionality. This reduces expensive repairs by identifying issues early before any major damage occurs. Long term, this care will definitely pay off.
Do not climb on the enclosure!
We know how tempting it may seem, especially for kids or pets – but the enclosure is not designed for climbing. Climbing could lead to injury or structural damage. If you ever must access the top (e.g., to retrieve an object or during cleaning), spread your weight and stay above support profiles. Always secure yourself to prevent falls.
Clearing snow might seem like a reason to climb, but there's no need! Use a long-handled soft broom from the side or from a higher platform for patio enclosures.
Don’t forget the rolling mechanism
Although durable, the tracks and wheels still need care. Grass, twigs, sand, and other debris reduce functionality and increase wear. Keep tracks clear and avoid forcing segments if anything is stuck. If a jam occurs, call our service center and do not attempt to move the structure further. Proper maintenance 1–2 times a year keeps your enclosure looking and working like new – it will remain a proud feature of your pool or patio for years to come.
