What are the differences between enclosure models?

Are you considering buying a pool enclosure but unsure what to look for? What height of enclosure should you choose? What’s the difference between solid and multi-wall polycarbonate, and how does it compare to glass? Read our article and gain a clearer perspective.

Low, medium or high enclosure?
Before purchasing a pool enclosure, it’s important to decide on the desired height. Low enclosures are ideal when you don’t want to disturb the natural character of your garden. Some enclosures sit so close to the water’s surface that you hardly notice them — the Terra enclosure is a perfect example. When you're ready to swim, simply slide it open. Taller enclosures include side doors for pool access. Some low enclosures, such as Elegant Neo, even allow comfortable swimming beneath them. Medium-height enclosures are even more suitable for swimming and moving freely in the pool. If you'd like to spend more leisure time under the enclosure with family and friends, a high enclosure is the perfect solution. It allows movement around the pool and protects you from rain, wind, or other unfavorable weather. High enclosures provide maximum comfort both inside and around the pool — basically your private swimming stadium or spa.
Enclosure size and number of segments.
For low enclosures, the size roughly follows the shape of the pool. Medium and high enclosures, however, benefit from a slightly larger footprint to allow space for seating and relaxing. High enclosures can even accommodate garden furniture.
Next, you need to decide how many segments your enclosure should have. One segment is typically 2 meters wide. A 6-meter pool will have about 3 segments. The number of segments matches the number of rails used for movement. We supply only safe, flat, walkable rails, 15 mm high, which are gentle on bare feet. Ideally, the rails should extend beyond the pool, allowing the enclosure to be fully slid away from the water. Besides standard dual-rail enclosures, we also offer single-rail systems like the Viva model — providing barrier-free access from three sides.
Shape of the enclosure
Depending on your taste and the shape of your pool’s edge, you can choose from various enclosure styles — from sharp angles to soft curves and segmented arches, or even combinations of both. The popular Ravena model, for instance, transitions from a rectangular profile on one side of the pool to an arch on the other — providing comfortable access and movement along one side.

Type of polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a unique thermoplastic with excellent mechanical, optical, and thermal properties. Compared to glass, it's up to 200 times more impact-resistant. Enclosure frames are filled with either 8 mm or 10 mm multi-wall panels, or 3–4 mm solid/compact polycarbonate sheets. You can choose from solid/compact, single-wall, or triple-wall polycarbonates. Triple-wall offers the best insulation. Solid sheets (3–4 mm) are transparent, while multi-wall panels have a matte finish. Both can be combined in one enclosure — for example, the top part may use multi-wall panels to prevent heat loss, while the sides and ends remain transparent for a lighter visual feel and better pool visibility. All panels include UV-protective filters to block harmful solar radiation. Additionally, compact panels are treated with nanotechnology for enhanced scratch resistance.

Enclosure color
Our durable aluminum profiles are available in multiple colors. The most popular is anthracite, followed by bronze. Standard colors also include silver and white. All colors are powder-coated and baked for extra durability and adhesion. On request, we can also provide profiles in any RAL color.
The most common polycarbonate colors are clear and smoky. Rail options include anodized/silver or bronze.

For your comfort
Pool enclosure entry can be managed with hinged or sliding doors. Sliding doors can be installed on the side as additional access or as an alternative to front-facing doors. For even greater convenience, you can opt for motorized movement of the enclosure segments. Two synchronized motors are controlled remotely and protected by a safety lock. This autonomous system runs on self-recharging gel batteries. The Terra Prime, Viva Prime, and eChampion models include motors as standard. Still unsure?
